Vinny Beard was born in New Rochelle NY, 1951 and lived there most of his adult life. First attracted to bass by soaring leads of Jimi Hendrix at 16, he restrung an old Junk guitar filed the nut 4 even groves and soon after tinkering with it, had an opportunity to buy an old copper tone Dan Electro. He first heard the band Yes came out with “Heart Of The Sunrise” on the radio. He bought that album “Fragile” and “Close To The Edge” started to mimic Chris Squire damn close, some say exact. He was trying to impress a girl he invited over and grabbed the bass and started playing along to “Close To The Edge.”

The Last Place he played in NYC in the east Village of was at Paul Colby’s The Bitter End. In a band named Jammitdammit specializing in Macy Grey, Commodores & Earth Wind & Fire.

He wanted to beat the Jazz Bass against the wall but brought it back to Sam Ash on 48th St, Manhattan, NY. And sold it after playing an Ibanez 1405E DRF on the main Deck of The main deck of NCL’s The Pride of America Cruise ship and made a friend Barney Cortinez the bassist for “Jimmy Mac &The Kool Kats” that let him guest play with the band using his 1405E Blonde. So he bought a red same model year 2000.

First time he brought it to the OV Jam Night he Played with Taj Mahal.

Later with Mac Arnold, Norbert Butz, and lastly in RadioGhost Band with Steven Miller & Rick Chesler then they added Todd Lollis. So they are now a quartet. But started as a Trio.
