Listed in Florida Keys Musicians
- Islamorada, FL, USA
I’ve been playing in the keys since 1974. I played for my parents at the Islamorada Yacht Club before that, but didn’t get paid. That is now LoreLei in Islamorada. Started with an little spinnet organ called a Farfisa. Taught myself to play chords with my left hand and trumpet with my right. I went through 3 organs before I started using keyboards. Now I have several keyboards, a cornet, a flugelhorn, and pocket trumpets which all have different sounds and functions. I like to sing and harmonize with other singers. I play big band, country, rock and roll, and island songs. Right now I’m lucky enough to be playing with Harry Teaford who plays bass and sings; John Baxter who plays sax, flute, and harmonizes with Harry and myself. We’ve called ourselves the Key Largo Wood Rats & The John Baxter Trio, We get together every Wednesday at the Key Largo Moose from 7 to 10. We just added a drummer named Billy Bob who also sings. With the horns and the harmonies we have a great sound that can go rock to jazz to island, to just about anything. They make me a better musician and I look forward to the time they give me. If you’re in the upper keys and you’d like good music. Give me a call. Thank you to Marathon Florida Music for giving us this place to get the word out. Thank you the listener. Tim Dressing
